Busy Easter Weekend!

So the Saturday before Easter Chris (the boyfriend) and I went to my brother and his wife's house to hang out and be much closer to the family picnic we were attending on Easter Sunday. Everyone was bringing a dish to the picnic, and I chose to attempt to make easter egg cake pops. They look MUCH, MUCH easier to make then they really were. The "pops" kept falling off of the sticks into the icing no matter what we did, and when I say we I mean EVERYONE!! Between my brother, Jenn, Chris and myself we did manage to get most of them iced. They in no way shape or form looked like easter eggs, more or less like rocks on sticks!! It was still a great evening with great people, even Ethan (my newest nephew) stayed up for all of the festivities!
The next morning we all woke up and finished our dishes and all made it to the picnic before everyone left! haha.. Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend we had two very yummy dishes to bring along with my rock cake pops to the picnic. His chicken salad and jalapeno corn dip was a major hit with everyone. After leaving the picnic we went to Chris' Nona's for Easter dinner and spent some time with his family. I always love going to Nona's because her food is incredible! There are actually a lot of good cooks in his family! :)  Despite the cake pop FAIL, I had a busy, but outstanding weekend!

Kadence Jade turns 2 with a Minnie Mouse Birthday

My niece Kaydence just had her second birthday and had a Minnie Mouse theme!! I was so excited to get to bake another cake for nieces and nephew. So my sister and I looked on line and we both fell in love with this cake. I will admit I rushed on the icing of the top tier in order to get it done by the time the party started, so I wasn't thrilled with the way it turned out. Either way the cake was still pretty tasty!

The bottom tier was Strawberry cake with white buttercream icing, and the top tier was Golden Butter cake with pink buttercream icing. For the borders I used pink and black ribbon, and for the polka dots, Minnie Mouse heads, and bows I used foam sheets that my sister and I cut out with her Cricut.

Scooter Turns 6!

I've made a few cakes here and there but never really anything too extravagant until my nephews 6th birthday. He is a HUGE Super Mario fan, just about anything having to do with Mario, he has it. So, I thought what better birthday gift than a Mario themed cake!! So I made the Warp Pipe from the Mario games as well as the 1up and grow mushrooms as cupcakes. Not professional status, but I think it turned out great! He loved it.
